00 Annually The Town of Hillsborough, North Carolina, is seeking a communications specialist, who will be part of a three-person team tasked with engaging the community and sharing current news, educational campaigns, and town government events in this small and growing community.
Hillsborough's diverse population includes an active arts community, vibrant and walkable downtown, and award-winning Riverwalk greenway.
This position is responsible for writing, designing, editing, and proofreading a variety of materials, such as news releases, social media posts, promotional materials, and public education campaigns.
In addition, the communications specialist manages website content and analysis, manages a digital signage program at the town's billing office, attends and prepares minutes for meetings of the town board, participates in community engagement events, and is responsible for video and photography production and inventory coordination.
A bachelor's degree and two to three years of communications experience is preferred.
Also preferred are local government communications experience and an understanding of responsive customer service.
At least two writing samples are required with application, and visual or multimedia samples are encouraged.
